The Lion's Mane Mushroom
A Short History of Hericium Use
The origin of the mushroom is in ancient Asia. It grows mainly in Asia on dead or dying hardwood trees, and it can also be found in North America, Europe and of course, China, and Japan. The edible mushroom has been known for hundreds of years and has a refined taste and unusual appearance that resembles the lion’s mane. For hundreds of years, Asians consumed the Hericium mushroom, which even back then was known to improve and enhance memory.
In Japan, the mushroom was especially loved by the Buddhist monks, who used to make tea using Hericium to improve their concentration during meditation.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the mushroom is used to support internal organs, including the spleen and intestines, the liver, the lungs, the heart, the kidneys, and circulatory system. It improves digestive processes, strengthens the body, and boosts it with energy.
The Benefits of High-Quality Hericium Products
Hericium has been confirmed to help the body and mind in many areas backed by clinical studies. At Mycospring, we are constantly learning about new wonders and virtues of this beneficial mushroom in our ongoing research.
Research has found active substances in the mycelium of Hericium that are related to the nervous system. Our Hericium powder product includes a mixture of 100% fruiting bodies as it is essential to use the mushroom’s fruiting body in combination with mycelium.
Our Hericium, like our other mushrooms, is grown on a bed of wood and fungiculture that we have developed and improved over the years. At Mycospring, we strictly adhere to chemical-free growth processes. To achieve and maintain the high quality of our products, we perform testing for microbial and chemical contaminants, and quality control procedures during the entire production process of the Hericium. As opposed to its natural environment, where Hericium may absorb environmental toxins because of the uncontrolled decomposition of substances, we produce our products in environmentally controlled facilities to minimize contaminants and ensure that each one of our products contains the highest extraction of bioactive compounds and nutrients.
A Range of Benefits In One Smart Mushroom
How to Consume Hericium?
The active constituents in Hericium are available to the human body in their natural form, as opposed to other mushrooms that require more processing to gain such active constituents. Mycospring’s Hericium mushrooms are delicious and “ready-to-consume”. They can be consumed in their most natural form, or you can use our Hericium powder as a supplement to add to cold and hot dishes (while cooking) or enjoy it as a Lion’s Mane mushroom tea.
Hericenones and Erinacines – reduce damage to the nervous system and repair neurons, stimulate the growth of neurons, reduce acetylcholinesterase, and engage in a protective activity of neurons and myelin production. These compounds are also antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties.
Polysaccharides and Polypeptides (contains five types, especially beta-glucan) – boost the immune system and have tumor-inhibiting effects. Polysaccharides also reduce oxidative damage.
Hereicium is safe to consume, and there are no known studies on humans showing specific side effects. In some cases, due to the active ingredients in the mushroom and their interaction with the body some discomfort may arise in the digestive tract. In such cases we recommend halting the consumption and consulting with your physician or therapist.
Hericium is an impressive white, large mushroom known for its many benefits. In Western countries it is called “Lion’s Mane” due to its resemblance to the mane of a lion, on the other hand to the Chinese it resembles more a “Monkey’s Head” and that’s what it is called there.
Hericium can be consumed at any time during the day. Unlike other mushrooms, there is no need to extract the compounds of the mushroom with boiling water. It can be added to salads, stews, juices, yogurt and more, or with the extract consumed orally.
Everyone can consume Hericium mushrooms, but in order to provide the greatest outcomes, it is recommended to consult with your physician or alternative medicine therapist before usage. Pregnant women, children and people with underlying health conditions should consult with their doctor. The product is a food supplement and does not substitute a medication or therapy recommended by doctors.
