At the beginning of his adult life, things went badly in the usual ways: military service, a bachelor's degree (with honors) in sustainability and governance at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, marriage, a business venture... But the special child of nature didn't really get along with the usual path. The business venture failed, his marriage fell apart, and he returned to the north without a wife and without money, suffering from anxiety and depression.
Ra returned to wandering with his dog in the mountains, forests and fields of his childhood landscape. He knew every stone, every tree trunk and, above all, returned to his greatest childhood love – mushrooms. He used to collect rare mushrooms that only he could find in places that no one else had ever been to. He studied every rare mushroom he found with great curiosity, not only from a culinary and scientific perspective but also from a medical perspective.
In his many wanderings, Re discovered new species for science in Israel. His interest in mushrooms, walking in the forest, going out into nature and gathering helped him heal himself from depression and anxiety and he became an optimistic and happy person. Even then, he was inspired by nature and began to pass on his insights to anyone who wanted to better cope with physical and mental pain.
The name of the “Mushroom Man from the North” preceded him, and many made a pilgrimage to him to learn the secrets of mushroom picking. From naturalists, farmers, nutritionists to the country’s leading chefs who were looking for special mushrooms to upgrade their menus.
At the same time, in 2017, due to Ra's growing curiosity in the field of mushroom cultivation and their medicinal abilities, he met with Ido Peres - one of the pioneers of medicinal mushroom cultivation in Israel and currently an international expert in the field based in Vietnam.
Ra and Ido fed each other with knowledge – Ra from the field of gathering and Ido from the field of medicinal mushrooms.

Rae decided to take up medicinal mushrooms as his life's project with a vision to offer an alternative way to self-healing the body and mind. He initially distributed the mushrooms he grew to his associates, and after most of them returned to him with enthusiastic reports about the positive effects of the mushrooms on a variety of medical problems, his belief became knowledge and strengthened his dedication to research, cultivation, and spreading the word about medicinal mushrooms, especially Cordyceps - the mother of all mushrooms - as he put it.

The two good friends, Ido Peres and Ra Sofer, were joined by Ido Levy and Mickey Bitton, and together they established the Israeli branch of Mycospring Vietnam, setting themselves the goal of spreading the word about the natural healing abilities of medicinal mushrooms, making this wonder accessible to the Western world, and helping the entire population strengthen their body and mind in order to improve their quality of life in a wide variety of aspects.
The rumor spread quickly, and Mycospring became a pilgrimage site for dozens of scientists and researchers who understood the enormous potential of medicinal mushrooms. Even today, Ra continues to research the medicinal properties of mushrooms, and he works closely with some of the most advanced scientific research institutes in the world – such as the Technion in Haifa and the North R&D Center – and together they are developing more and more strains of medicinal mushrooms for a variety of health problems.
Mycospring researches, develops and produces natural medicinal mushrooms using exclusive methods, and markets them to people from all over the world who are interested in strengthening their bodies and minds and improving their quality of life. Mycospring’s unique cultivation method, which combines an age-old tradition originating from ancient Eastern culture with modern Western research spanning over 15 years, enables the enhancement and maximization of the potential inherent in mushrooms to achieve a high, balanced and highly precise concentration of active ingredients. Mycospring’s flagship products today are the Cordyceps mushroom, considered the mother of all medicinal mushrooms, and other leading medicinal mushrooms such as Reishi, Hericium, Trematode versicolor and Turkey Tail, offered as whole mushrooms or as a powder.
Bad summary: “A mushroom is not a plant. It is an animal. There is something cosmic about it. It has amazing healing properties that slowly convince all the cynics I have met along the way who have learned to accept and appreciate it. Like anything that people have not grown up with from a young age, the realization that a mushroom is an effective natural medicine takes time. For people who have grown up only on chemical drugs produced in factories and who only believe in Western medicine, it is difficult to make the change in their minds. But as I said, even my most skeptical friends managed to break free from the fixation and after trying our medicinal mushrooms, they understood how powerful and how much healing ability lies in them and how mushrooms can give people a healthier and better life.
Their recognition of this is the best gift I could receive.”
